Transport Canada предоставило компании Drone Delivery Canada разрешение на испытания поставок с помощью дронов в северных канадских общинах Мус-Фэктори и Мусуни, Онтарио. Базирующаяся в Торонто компания Drone Delivery Canada совершила свои первые успешные полеты в начале этого месяца в партнерстве с племенем Мус-Кри. Партнерство направлено на создание службы доставки дронами, которая будет доставлять продукты питания, медикаменты и другие предметы первой необходимости на остров Мус-Фэктори в реке Мус.
Поставки дронами разрушают изоляцию
Дважды в год, весной и осенью, остров оказывается отрезанным от остального мира, когда лед недостаточно крепок для проезда, а вода слишком замерзла, чтобы пересечь ее на лодке. Дрон Drone Delivery Canada способен перевозить грузы до 10 фунтов на расстояние до 6 миль.
Тони Ди Бенедетто, генеральный директор Drone Delivery Canada, заявил, что технология дронов положительно повлияет на аналогичные изолированные сообщества.
«На самом деле речь идет о том, чтобы обслуживать сообщества, которым не хватает инфраструктуры, где основные товары очень трудно получить, а когда их удается получить, это очень, очень дорого», — сказал он.
Поставки дронами испытаны в реальных условиях
Генеральный директор Drone Delivery Canada Ди Бенедетто заявил, что компания стремится испытать свои дроны в реальных условиях.
«Климат был большим аспектом, который мы хотели понять, и во время наших испытаний мы столкнулись с различными крайностями. Когда мы смотрим на эту технологию и на то, как она будет развиваться, мы должны продемонстрировать, как эта технология безопасно работает в существующем воздушном пространстве», — сказал он.
Drone Delivery Canada планирует продолжить испытания в Мусуни и сотрудничает с регулирующими органами, включая Transport Canada, чтобы запустить службу доставки.
Поставки дронами могут быть более эффективным и экономичным способом доставки продукции в отдаленные районы, такие как общины Мус-Фэктори и Мусуни в Онтарио.
